Lent

During the season of Lent, we began a journey together. From fasting, learning, and praying, there was strength and encouragement. The weekly pre-sanctified liturgies took place in dim lighting. There was a sense of movement, moving slowly towards Holy Week. A hymn that stood out to me through is called “Lord of the Powers.” As the sunlight stayed up during time change over the weeks, the sun shown bright over the altar area, becoming quite captivating.

After each service, Father Chris taught us about the various sacraments in the church, and their meaning. Seeing all of the symbolism around the church, it all started to feel connected in a personal way. Everything has a purpose and an origin, in the story of Jesus and His people.

Lord of the Powers, be with us.
For in times of distress, we have no other help but You.
Lord of the Powers, have mercy on us.
